Manually select the standard if an evaluation lacks this information
Some evaluations might not contain the information about the accessibility standard they are based on. For such evaluations, you must manually select one or more applicable standards, used in the testing. This applies to both new and existing evaluations. When you select the applicable standard for an evaluation, the conformance score is calculated, and displayed on the Conformance tab. The Report and Findings tabs are also updated accordingly.
Note:
- You must select the applicable standards once per evaluation. Make sure that the selected standards match the original testing request. Only the standards you select are used in the final results.
- You cannot change a standard, after you select it. If you select a standard incorrectly, this leads to inconsistent evaluation results. For more information, go to FAQs about manual selection of standards.
To select applicable accessibility standards manually:
-
Go to Digital assets.
-
Select a digital asset, and then Evaluations. The Conformance Score column displays Not Calculated for each evaluation that lacks the information about accessibility standards used in the testing and originally intended for the evaluation.
-
Select an evaluation. The Evaluation results page opens. If the evaluation is not associated with a standard, you must select one or more that apply. In this situation, you'll see the following message:
To show results for this evaluation, we’ll need a reminder of the accessibility standards you’ve set.
For accurate results, please select the same standards previously applied. -
Select all the accessibility standards applied in the testing:
-
EN 301 549
- Section 508
- WCAG
Note: If you select WCAG, you must select both the version and level. For example, select WCAG 2.1 AA. You must select the same standards applied in testing. You cannot change your selection after you have made it.
-
- Select Save, to trigger the conformance score calculation. The evaluation result is displayed based on the selection. The Conformance, Report, and Findings tabs are updated accordingly.

FAQs about manual selection of standards
Do all evaluations require manual selection of an applicable accessibility standard?
No. This applies only to some evaluations.
Is the manual selection of accessibility standards applicable to both new and existing evaluations?
Yes. It applies to any evaluation that lacks accessibility standard information.
What happens if I don’t select a standard?
If no standard is selected, the Conformance Score will remain Not Calculated, and the Conformance tab will not display any content. The evaluation is considered incomplete in terms of conformance reporting. To trigger conformance score calculation, you must manually select the standard, and cannot change your selection after you make it.
What happens if I choose Select All, to select all listed standards?
The report will include result for all standards, but for the ones that weren't tested the result will be inconsistent.
What happens if I select standards that weren’t tested in my evaluation?
This will create distortions in the results. For example, if the evaluation was conducted against WCAG 2.1 AA, but the user selects AAA, the Success Criteria specific to AAA— which were not tested—would automatically be marked as Not Applicable. This would artificially raise the overall score.
Who can select the standard manually?
Any user that has access to the evaluation can select one or more standards that apply to the evaluation.
What if I select the wrong standard?
Incorrect selection results in an inconsistent report, and can't be modified. Later releases might allow you to correct the error and select a different standard.
What happens if I don’t select a standard for an evaluation that lacks this information?
The Conformance Score remains Not Calculated. The Conformance tab does not display any content.
