Unlink a Jira ticket when you need to connect a Level Access task to a different Jira ticket. You can keep the original task and task ID without deleting or recreating the task.
For example, validation may show that an accessibility issue needs more work after its Jira ticket is completed. You can unlink the completed ticket and link another Jira ticket for the next round of remediation.

Before you start
Before you unlink a Jira ticket, make sure:
- The task currently has a linked Jira ticket.
- You have permission to push or link Jira tickets from the task.
You can unlink a Jira ticket from any task with an active Jira link. The task doesn't have to be Reopened.
Note: This procedure applies to Jira tickets only. It doesn't apply to other issue-tracking integrations.
Unlink a Jira ticket
To unlink the current Jira ticket:
- Open the task's details page.
- In the Issue Tracking section, select the unlink option for the linked Jira ticket.
- Review the confirmation message, then confirm that you want to unlink the ticket.
If you cancel, the Jira ticket stays linked and continues synchronizing with the task.
What happens when you unlink
Unlinking removes the active connection between the task and the Jira ticket. It doesn't delete either record.
| Item | What happens |
|---|---|
| Level Access task | The task stays in Level Access with the same task ID. You don't need to delete or recreate it. |
| Jira ticket | The ticket stays in Jira. Unlinking doesn't delete, reopen, or otherwise modify it. |
| Synchronization | Future synchronization between the task and the unlinked Jira ticket stops. |
Link another Jira ticket
After unlinking, use the existing Jira linking option on the same task to connect another Jira ticket.
The newly linked ticket becomes the task's active Jira connection and is used for ongoing synchronization. The previously unlinked ticket no longer receives task updates.
Note: A task can have only one actively synchronizing Jira ticket at a time. Unlink the current ticket before linking another one.
Review Jira link history
When Jira link history recording is enabled, the task's history keeps a record of its previous Jira connections. You can review:
- The Jira ticket's key and URL.
- When the ticket was linked.
- When the ticket was unlinked.
- Who performed the action, if that information is available.
Note: If Jira link history recording is disabled, you can still unlink a Jira ticket and stop synchronization. New link and unlink events aren't recorded in the task's history while recording is disabled. Existing history entries remain available.
