About custom labels
Use custom labels to denote specific decisions or classifications that your team wants to use when reviewing tasks. For example, your team might classify a finding as a valid new issue, a duplicate, already fixed in the current version, a suspected false positive, something that needs discussion with Level Access, or something already being tracked in another system.
The feature is most relevant if you:
Review and triage large numbers of findings
Use an issue-tracking system that Level Access does not currently integrate with
Need to record specific decisions about tasks
Need to link Level Access tasks to remediation work tracked elsewhere
Note: You must have appropriate project update permissions. The project must not be connected to an issue tracking integration. Labels are scoped to that project. A label created for one project is not automatically available in another project.
Configure custom labels
To configure custom labels:
Navigate to the workspace level.
Under Find and Fix, select Projects and tasks. The Project tab is displayed.
Find the project for which you want to configure the custom labels.
From the three-dot actions menu, select Configure custom labels. A new page is displayed.
Select the + Add custom label link.
In the Label * field, enter a custom label.
Note: Label names must be unique and can contain up to 100 characters. A project can contain up to 10 labels. Duplicate label names are prevented.
Repeat until the required labels have been configured, up to the 10-label project limit.
Select Save.
Show manual tracking columns
To show manual tracking columns in the projects task list:
Navigate to the workspace level.
Under Find and Fix, select Projects and tasks. The Project tab is displayed.
Find the project, and then select View project.

Under Hide and show columns, select the following columns:

Assign a custom label to classify a task
Record your decision about the task without changing Level Access task progress or the underlying finding. A task can have one custom label or no label.
Note: Assigning a custom label does not change task progress or finding status. For example, you could create a label called
Duplicate, but selecting it does not automatically resolve, dismiss, or otherwise modify the official finding.
To assign a custom label to a task:
Navigate to the workspace level.
Under Find and Fix, select Projects and tasks. The Project tab is displayed.
Find the project, and then select View project. The list of tasks for the project is displayed.
Select and open a task. The Task details page is displayed.
In the Manual tracking section, from the Custom label dropdown, select one of the configured custom labels. You do not need to save it. The selected value is saved immediately.
Note: To remove the classification later, navigate to the same location and select No Label.
Add an external reference
You can link a task to externally tracked work. This allows you to point a Level Access task to corresponding work in another system without requiring Level Access to integrate with that system.
Note: You can associate one external reference with a task.
To link a task to an external reference (establish an external link):
Navigate to the workspace level.
Under Find and Fix, select Projects and tasks. The Project tab is displayed.
Find the project, and then select View project. The list of tasks for the project is displayed.
Select and open a task. The Task details page is displayed.
In the Manual tracking section, select +Add URL. The External link dialog is displayed.
Enter the Link text *.
Enter the corresponding URL *.
Select Save. The external reference appears as clickable text and can be opened in a new browser tab.
Edit or remove an external reference
Keep the Level Access task connected to the correct externally tracked work. If the external reference changes, update it in the platform.
To update an external reference
Navigate to the workspace level.
Under Find and Fix, select Projects and tasks. The Project tab is displayed.
Find the project, and then select View project. The list of tasks for the project is displayed.
Select and open a task. The Task details page is displayed.
Find the existing external reference in the Manual tracking section.
Select Edit.
Update the Link text or URL.
Save the changes.
To remove an external reference:
Display the Task details page.
In the Manual tracking section, next to External link you want to delete, select Remove.
Select Remove again, to confirm that you want to remove the external link. This action cannot be undone.
Note: The external reference is removed from the task. The Level Access task itself is not removed or otherwise changed.
Frequently asked questions
Who can use custom labels and external links?
Manual task tracking is available for projects without an issue-tracking integration. You need the appropriate project permission to configure custom labels and the appropriate task update permission to change Manual tracking values. Manual Task Tracking is hidden when the project has an issue-tracking integration connected, such as Jira, Azure DevOps, Asana, or GitHub Issues.
Does adding an external URL create a ticket in the other system and establishes synchronization between the systems?
No. The external link is manually entered tracking information. Level Access does not create anything in the external system. That is, adding an external URL does not create or connect an integration. Level Access does not:
Create the external ticket
Update it or receive updates from it
Synchronize status, comments or attachments
Map external fields
Authenticate to the external system
Confirm that the referenced external ticket exists
Does choosing a label change the Level Access task progress or finding status?
No. The label records the customer's own classification and is independent of the official Level Access task and finding state.
What happens if I rename a label that is already being used?
Tasks remain assigned to that label and display the new label name.
What happens if I delete a label that is already being used?
The product warns you before deletion. If you choose to proceed, the label is removed from every task where it was assigned. The tasks themselves remain unchanged.
Can I edit an external link from the project task list?
No. The project task list displays the external link, but adding, editing, and removing the link is done from task details.
Is there a limit to how many labels I can configure?
Yes. Each project can contain up to 10 custom labels.
