Once you’ve installed the browser extension, you can start scanning. Scan single pages and view results locally or scan multiple pages and send results to the platform.
Scan with Level Access: Scan on the browser extension and send your results to the platform. Get the most out of each scan by tracking your results and streamlining your remediation.
Scan locally: Scan a single page locally on the browser extension to test it out or for a quick progress check. Keep in mind that when you scan locally, the results aren’t sent to the platform or saved for future reference.
On this page:
Open the extension
To open the extension:
- Open your browser and go to the first page you want to scan. The extension won’t load on a blank tab.
-
Open the developer tools in your browser.
- Right-click anywhere on the page and select Inspect (Chrome) or Inspect Element (Firefox).
- Press CTRL+OPTION+I (Mac) or CTRL+SHIFT+I (Windows).
-
From the menu, select Accessibility Checker. If you don’t see the extension, select More (>>) to expand the menu.
The extension will open. You’re ready to start scanning.
Scan with the extension and send your results to the platform
If you see a message stating that your API key has expired, go to Settings in the browser extension and fill in the fields. You don't need an API key to set up the browser extension.
To scan one or more pages and send results to the platform:
- In your browser, go to the first page you want to scan.
- Select Automated test.
-
Choose Start session.
- Enter a title for the scan session.
-
Select Start. A scan will run on the page you have open.
-
If you want to scan more pages, go to another page and select Scan. Repeat this step until you’ve scanned all pages you want to include in your scan results.
If you scan one URL multiple times to capture dynamically generated elements, only the most recent scan will be sent to the platform. To record results for multiple states of the same URL, start a new scan session.
-
When you’ve scanned all the pages you want to include in the session, select Send scan(s) to Level Access. Follow the link to your results or return to the platform and check the Scans page.
Scan locally
To optimize the remediation process, it’s best to send your results to the platform. But you do have the option of scanning locally and reviewing results right in the extension.
To scan locally:
- In your browser, go to the first page you want to scan.
- Select Automated test.
- Choose Scan. A list of any identified issues will load in the extension. Note that the scan results don’t save when you scan locally.
