Live app testing
Manage expired mobile apps
We’ve updated up how the platform handles expired or missing apps, so messages are both clearer and more accurate.
- If the app exists and is expired, you’ll now see a clear Expired status.
- If the app can’t be found, the platform now returns a clean generic error instead of misidentifying it as expired.
This should make troubleshooting simpler and reduce confusion during uploads.
Multi-app upload support (Platform)
You can now work with multiple uploaded apps per digital asset without UI friction. On the dashboard, all apps are displayed, and if there are too many to fit, a scroll bar appears automatically. The card now uses a defined max height and aligns visually with the overview card, while on mobile, we show everything without clipping.
Additionally, on the Edit Digital Asset page, you’ll now see a simple Add App button — making it much easier to manage multiple versions or variants of your app.
Multi-app support in the platform (Start and resume)
Sessions now stay connected to the correct app every time. When starting or resuming a scan, the platform selects the right app associated with the session rather than defaulting to the first one available.
We also added some small guardrails that make a big difference:
- Only one session can be active at a time.
- If a session is in progress, you’ll see Resume, not Start.
- The sessions table now clearly shows the active session.
These improvements should make testing with multiple apps far more predictable and intuitive.
Custom severities in live app testing
Custom severities are now shown in scan results for live app testing, ensuring the same prioritization you use across the platform.
- Shows only if the organization has custom severities enabled.
- It falls back to standard severities when not available.
Enhanced mobile payload data
Mobile SDK executions now include the application version in the payload, improving traceability of test results.
Version 2025.10
Mobile: Streamlined views
We’ve streamlined the mobile testing workflow by introducing a unified Scans tab that consolidates all mobile testing activities into one cohesive view.
Now you can:
- Access both Mobile SDK scans and Live App Testing scans in one place.
- Upload apps directly from the Edit Digital Asset page and manage them through a new App Table.
- Stay informed with improved notifications when apps are uploaded.
- Easily distinguish scan methods with the redesigned Mobile Scans Table, featuring a new Scan Type column.
Mobile SDK BrowserStack compatibility fix
Mobile SDK version 7.5
We've resolved an issue where BrowserStack platformVersion values could cause errors in the Mobile SDK.
Version 2025.08
Introducing Live App Testing: Easy accessibility testing for native mobile apps
Spot accessibility issues in your mobile apps without writing a single line of code. Live App Testing lets anyone test native Android and iOS apps on real or virtual devices, save results, and share findings instantly.
To get started all you need is a digital asset created for your mobile app in the Level Access Platform (talk to your Account Manager about getting this setup today!). Once that's created, just upload a copy of your mobile app to the platform, select the real or virtual device you'd like to test on, and start scanning.
Live App Testing tests using the same mobile first rule library that was originally created for the Mobile Testing SDK, giving you a consistent set of results wherever you test your mobile apps.

Version 2025.06
Beta: Live Device Testing
Mobile testing now defaults to real devices for faster, more responsive sessions and near real-time interaction. iOS apps continue to run on virtual devices. Device availability is determined as part of the beta process.
Expanded device selection for mobile testing
Mobile testing now allows users to select from multiple real and virtual device/OS combinations. Device selection is available within the test session setup.
Version 2025.05
Mobile testing SDK
You can now use the Mobile Testing SDK to run accessibility tests directly within your mobile apps. This helps you catch issues earlier in development and ensure a more accessible mobile experience.
Version 2025.02
Beta: Mobile accessibility tester
Testing results
Emulator scans now capture both successful and errored tests, and result notifications include more screen details. You can remove testing results, view individual test results and findings, and quickly find what you need with new search and filter options. We also fixed an issue where some elements were missing from emulator scan results, and “Scan results” is now called “Testing results” for clarity.
UI enhancements
iOS device and app details from Appium now sync with the platform automatically. We’ve also improved error handling, making session timeouts and action failures smoother.
Bug fixes
We fixed duplicate headers in mobile emulator testing and resolved UI stretching issues caused by screen orientation lock.
Version 2025.01
Beta: Mobile accessibility tester
Use the Mobile accessibility tester to perform UI tests for iOS and Android applications. Results and issue details, are displayed directly on the platform to help developers, QA testers, and accessibility champions identify and address accessibility gaps.
- Perform functional UI testing for iOS and Android apps.
- Download your scan results and take corrective actions to improve accessibility.
