Use our Automated Remediation Tool (ART) to reduce accessibility issues while your development team complete long-term remediation work.
On this page:
Before we perform any validation on a property with UserWay Pro tooling enabled, we recommend a scan with ART turned off. This step allows you to establish a clear baseline of your underlying code.
Setup
To test your site without ART:
- Open Chrome Developer Tools.
- Select the Console tab.
- Open the Customize and control DevTools menu.
-
Select More tools, then select Network request blocking.
- Add https://cdn.userway.org as the URL.
- Turn network blocking on or off as needed during testing.
Confirm ART is enabled
When you access your site:
- Turn off any ad blockers. If you are using a tag manager like Google Tag Manager, this step should not be required.
- Confirm that DevTools is not blocking UserWay traffic.
- Press Ctrl/Cmd + U to open the ART widget.
Validation
Once you have your first scan without ART on, you can turn ART on and run the scans again.
Use ART during ongoing testing
- Ensure ART is enabled.
- Validate issues you report as fixed.
- If no specific issues are listed, review issues associated with the Success Criterion table that ART covers.
Evaluation
Baseline or initial evaluation
If your site is new to manual testing with Level Access, you can establish a baseline evaluation.
For baseline testing:
- Disable ART before capturing pages, modules, or components.
- Keep ART disabled throughout testing.
- Re-enable ART after testing is complete.
- If ART resolves any findings once re-enabled, you can temporarily ignore the issue. We always
want to come back and fix all code at the source. ART is only a stop-gap.
This approach ensures that you evaluate your original implementation separately from automated remediation.
Keep ART disabled during baseline testing
- Open DevTools.
- Enable network request blocking for UserWay.
- Right-click the refresh icon.
- Select Empty cache and hard reload.
- UserWay remains blocked as long as DevTools remains open. If DevTools closes, repeat the setup steps.
Subsequent evaluations
For follow-up evaluations, keep ART enabled unless you are testing the original source code.
Your site is assessed as a complete solution that includes both your code and ART remediation. The source of the fix does not affect compliance status as long as the experience meets accessibility requirements.
