Perform manual hardware accessibility testing directly within Test Accelerator. With a curated hardware library and guided, step-by-step workflows, you can evaluate hardware interactions more efficiently while producing consistent, high-quality findings.

You can test against one or both standards, depending on your compliance requirements.

Run a hardware manual evaluation
To run a hardware manual evaluation:
- Go to the evaluation flow.
- From the navigational menu, select Manual evaluation.
- Click Create new.
Select the testing medium
In the Create new flow, select Hardware as the testing medium to configure the evaluation for hardware-specific checks and guided steps.
Choose applicable standards
Select the applicable standards:
- Section 508
- EN 301 549
- WCAG (iOS and Android)
Provide the required evaluation details
You need to fill the following fields:
- Evaluation name
- Destination digital asset
- Testing medium (Hardware)
- Selected standards
- Pages to be tested
Please note: You must have a Tester (or equivalent) role with project-level access to create evaluations and record evidence. Ensure the destination asset is accessible to your account.
Create the manual evaluation
Once you save the evaluation, it will be available for execution through Test Accelerator.
Test in Test Accelerator
To begin testing in Test Accelerator:
- Open the Level Access browser extension.
- Launch Test Accelerator.
- Sign in.
- Select the newly created manual evaluation.
The Hardware Test Guide launches with guided steps aligned to your selected standards.
Execute guided steps and capture evidence
Follow each guided step, using the following pass/fail criteria:
Failed tests:
- Record notes.
- Capture screenshots or video as required.
- Convert failures into findings directly from the guide.
All findings automatically include:
- Device context
- Selected standards
- Tested pages
- Associated evidence
As a best practice, provide descriptive alt text for all images.
