Create an automated flow
If you don't have the Level Access browser extension, you'll need to install and log in to the extension before you can create an automated flow. If you already have the browser extension installed, you can start creating your automated flow.
You must be on the page where you want to start your recording BEFORE you open the extension and enter your flow details. If you're not already on the first page of your flow:
- Close the tab.
- Go to the first page of your flow.
- Re-open the browser extension
To create an automated flow in the browser extension:
- Select Record automated flows.
- Choose the flow type:
- Full scans are a set of steps and interactions taken by a user to achieve a goal, which includes scan points that trigger an automated scan.
- Pre scans execute a series of user actions on your website before an accessibility scan starts and doesn't include scan points.
- Select Continue.
- Select the:
- Workspace.
- Website.
- Enter the automated flow name.
- Choose Start recording.
Record an automated flow
Before you record a full flow, it’s important to know where you want your scan points. The scan point is the place where the testing tool scans the webpage. You can add scan points anywhere in your flow, like before your first user action or after multiple user actions. Note that the platform supports up to 500 actions per automated flow.
Each scan point needs to be associated with a page from your page repository. While you’re adding scan points to your flow, there are a few ways to associate the scan point with a page:
- For pages that don’t exist in your page repository, you create a new page directly in the browser extension.
- For pages associated with URLs that exist in your page repository, you can:
- Associate the scan point with the existing page or page state. Note that you can only associate a page state with one scan point per flow.
- Create a new page for a different page state.
To record an automated flow:
- Perform user actions on the webpage. For example:
- Click the search bar.
- Type Accessibility.
- Press Enter on your keyboard.
- Add scan points:
- Select Scan page.
- Associate the scan point with a page:
- New pages: Review the page details and select Add page.
- Existing pages: Choose the page and select Add to scan action.
- New page states: Select Add page, review the page details, and choose Add page.
- Repeat steps 1-2 until your flow is complete. You can now save the flow to the platform or save the flow locally as a JSON file.
Save the automated flow to the platform
