The Level Access Browser extension and Continuum explorer are both tools that perform automated scanning on your websites directly from your browser. When you begin to use the Level Access browser extension, you'll realize the tools have very similar functionality, and that when the Level Access browser extension is connected to the platform, there is even more functionality than Continuum Explorer.

Level Access browser extension overview
The Level Access browser extension makes it easy to check for accessibility issues on any webpage. With the extension, you can run single-page accessibility scans, using Access Engine, right from your browser. Use the extension to:
- Identify potential accessibility issues on pre-production webpages.
- Scan local and protected environments like intranets and password-protected pages.
- Scan dynamically generated pages that depend on what the user selects (think conditional pop-ups)
Key differences
Automatic retesting when the page changes
The Level Access browser extension doesn't automatically retesting when the page changes, however, you can achieve the same goal by selecting Scan page after you've refreshed the page.
Sort results by severity, noticeability, and tractability
The Level Access browser extension provides you a summary of failed findings, needs review, and number of findings by severity. While you can't sort by severity, noticeability, and tractability, the extension organizes the findings in two tabs:
- Failed findings: lists all failed findings.
- Needs review: lists all findings that need review.
If you're logged in to the browser extension and send results to the platform, you can sort the findings by severity.
WCAG 2.2
Unlike Continuum Explorer, the Level Access browser extension supports testing against WCAG 2.2 (or the latest standard). For that reason, you can't filter results by WCAG version and level.
If you're logged in to the browser extension and send results to the platform, you can sort the findings by success criteria and conformance level.
Scan data
The Level Access browser extension returns a set of comprehensive data to help you understand and remediate your findings. Rather than numerical severity levels, the extension uses three severity levels that allow you to identify and prioritize fixes faster:
- Critical
- High
- Low
In addition to remediation steps/solution, you'll also get a detailed issue description and information on why this matters, to help you better understand the issue and prevent this type of finding in the future.
