Welcome to Desktop Crawler (DCA) updates released in 2025. DCA is available for both the platform and AMP.
On this page:
DCA 1.13
Released: November 25, 2025
We've increased the browser window width for AMP scans. The AMP DCA scanner now supports 1920x 1024 resolution.
-
We've added an error message (URL does not belong to digital asset) to inform you when a scan of a digital asset fails due to an incorrect URL.
Example: In the platform, configure the following base organization URL for a digital asset: https://example.com. A scan initiated for https://example.com/about is completed successfully. In the platform, results are linked to that digital asset. A scan initiated for a different URL, for example, https://differentdomain.com, is stopped. The scan fails and the following error message is shown: URL does not belong to digital asset. Consequently, no scan results are created or shown in the platform.
- We’ve added a height limit to the error banner to prevent long error messages from keeping the DCA UI elements from view. If the banner exceeds the available space, use a vertical scrollbar to access the DCA buttons within the app screen.
- Fixed an issue where tabbing through the Create Scan page (with or without a screen reader running), skipped the tooltips for some checkboxes (Skip URL # endings and Add webpages to exclude). The tooltips were not displayed via the keyboard navigation, nor announced to assistive technology (AT) users. The tooltips are now accessible via keyboard navigation as well as announced by screen readers.
- Fixed an issue where a tab character in the API token allowed AMP login but prevented scanning. A trailing whitespace was ignored during login. It wasn’t removed when a token was sent to AMP (in the API request sent by Access Continuum via DCA).
- Fixed an issue that prevented scanning of all URLs at or below the user-specified starting URL. Instead, DCA unexpectedly ignored the user’s specified starting URL and scanned only the redirected page.
DCA 1.12
Released: October 28, 2025
- We've added a new DCA configuration setting: Add webpages to exclude. It ignores URLs you want to skip when running a scan.
Chrome used for testing no longer steals focus while running in the background.
Whitespace at the end of API key (token) is now ignored.
The URL filtering logic update to use path filter instead of domain, to avoid being overly restrictive.
-
Fixed these issues pertaining to the Authenticate functionality/button:
If the Authenticate browser is open and the user selects Cancel the window now closes.
If the Authenticate browser is open and the user closes it, clicking Authenticate again no longer throws an error.
Fixed an issues where where, if the testing browser window was closed while a scan was running, an error was displayed. Now, if the testing browser window is closed while a scan is running, DCA no longer throws an error.
DCA 1.11
Released: September 16, 2025.
New features and enhancements:
-
We've updated to:
Access Continuum 7.4
Access Engine 2.28
We bundled Google Chrome and ChromeDriver to remove external dependency on downloading the latest ChromeDriver update. Consequently, DCA is not dependent on the version of Chrome installed on your machine.
Only user-bundled Chrome now runs scans. Embedded browser now stays open during a scan.
We removed browser selection menu.
We've added a new Authenticate button. To run a scan on a protected web page, the user needs to select Authenticate and then Run Scan. When you select the Authenticate button, DCA launches a Chrome browser window and loads the URL specified in DCA as the starting URL. It asks the user to log in if it is behind security.
The Authenticate button now validates the scan setup form entries.
Restarted scan now retains previously populated form values.
Eliminated reuse of authentication credentials across multiple scans.
-
Removed the following limitation:
DCA not working reliably with all PC and browsers configurations: Depending on your PC and browser configuration, DCA might not be working as intended. Our team is working to resolve the issue.
Known limitations:
- The module names are created from the page title. The current API used by DCA overwrites modules with the same name. To ensure unique names, we append the URL to the module name, which results in long module names.
- DCA doesn't check which browsers are actually installed on the system. You might might select a flavor of browser to scan with that is not actually installed.
- The algorithm for selecting which page to scan next is different from AMP spiders. Thus, if the scan is a “sample” of all the available pages, this sample set may be different than what AMP chose to spider. Scanning different sets of pages will reasonably yield different sets of findings, and the summary stats based on those findings will be different.
DCA 1.9
Released: April 17, 2025
Increased scanning timeout to handle slower pages.
Fixed an issue where newer Chrome was preventing DCA from sharing credentials.
Locating the Mac Chrome app no longer breaks on some systems.
