About LevelDocs installation
To install LevelDocs for Word, PowerPoint, or Excel, first download the corresponding LevelDocs .msi installation file. Run the installer and follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation on your Windows-based computer.
Activation note: You must have a license key to activate LevelDocs. Contact your Customer Success Manager for details.
Installation prerequisite: You must uninstall any existing versions of the add‑in. Then, download and install the most recent version. Otherwise, the add‑in will display two LevelDocs tabs. This is a one‑time action. Once you complete it, you can download and install future versions without having to uninstall previous versions.
Installation recommendation: For 64-bit machines, it is recommended to use the 64-bit installer. While a 32-bit per-user installation is technically supported on 64-bit systems, this configuration is not the intended or recommended setup and might have limitations. For best compatibility, performance, and ongoing support, use the 64-bit installer on all 64-bit machines.

Before you begin, you must meet the following system requirements:

Download LevelDocs install files
The download process varies depending on whether you are installing LevelDocs from the platform or as a standalone product.
Platform customers
Prerequisite: If you have never uninstalled previous versions of the add‑in, you must do so once. Then, download the most recent version.
To download an installation file, you must have a valid LevelDocs license and the necessary downloading permissions. You must download an installation file for each add-in you want to install:
Installer for MS Excel (64-bit or 32-bit)
Installer for MS PowerPoint (64-bit or 32-bit)
Installer for MS Word (64-bit or 32-bit)
To download a LevelDocs installer from the platform:
Log in to the Level Access Platform.
Navigate to the organizational level.
Under Manage, select Tools & Integrations, and then Tools & Extensions.
Locate the following section: Plugin tools for document accessibility remediation.
Download the installer of your choice, and save it to your local machine.
All successful downloads are logged for audit purposes.
Standalone customers
If you don’t have access to Level Access Platform because you purchased a standalone LevelDocs solution, you’ll receive installation instructions by email during your onboarding process.
Note: The email explains how to retrieve your Cloudsmith entitlement token and use it to access and download the LevelDocs installation files. The token is unique to your organization—treat it like a password.

To download installation files via the Cloudsmith token:
Open the onboarding email that contain the 1Password notification and link.
Select the following link in the onboarding email:
I’m sharing an item with you using 1Password -1password Entitlement token.-
Copy your entitlement token from 1Password and paste it into the URL below, replacing <Your-Token>:
Cloudsmith: Cloud-Native Artifact Management Platform <Your-Token>/leveldocs/raw/ Open the URL in a browser. You will see a list of available download packages.
Download the add-ins of your choice:
LevelDocs for Word
LevelDocs for PowerPoint
LevelDocs for Excel
Important: Do not share your token publicly or store it in Source Control. If your token is ever compromised or expires, submit a support ticket. Before automating any downloads, use the browser listing to confirm exact file names .
Install LevelDocs
After you download the installation files, proceed with the installation steps (per machine, or per site).
Install LevelDocs per machine
After you download the most recent install file, run it. Follow the installation prompts to complete the installation of LevelDocs on your Windows based computer.
Prerequisites: You need a license key to activate LevelDocs. Contact your Customer Success Manager for details.
To install Level Docs:
- Run a downloaded LevelDocs installation file. The Welcome dialog is displayed.
- Select Next. The End User License Agreement is displayed.
- Review the EULA. Then, select the check box next to I accept the terms in the License Agreement.
- Select Next. The Destination Folder screen is displayed.
- Select the destination (installation) folder, and then select Next.
- Select Install. The installation begins.
- Select Finish, when the install process is completed.
Install LevelDocs per site
LevelDocs can have a site license and be installed for multiple users. Once the license is obtained, you must download a corresponding installation file. Run it, and follow the installation prompts.
Activate LevelDocs
After you install the LevelDocs software, you must activate your LevelDocs license. Most of the LevelDocs features are disabled until the license activation.
Note: You can use online or offline activation method. If the License Wizard Activation Wizard does not open when you open Microsoft application, select the LevelDocs tab,
To activate your LevelDocs license:
- Start the License Activation Wizard, in one of the two ways:

By opening Microsoft application the first time upon installation:
- Start the Microsoft application with LevelDocs add-in. A prompt appears, asking whether you want the LevelDocs program to make changes to your computer.
- Select Yes. The License Activation Wizard opens.

By choosing the License option from the LevelDocs tab:
- In an open document, select LevelDocs tab.
- From the About LevelDocs dropdown, select License. The License Activation Wizard opens.

By opening Microsoft application the first time upon installation:
- Select Activate your license. The Activation Method prompt appears.

For online activation:
- Select Activate Online.
- Enter your License Key, and then select Activate License.

For offline activation:
- Select Activate Offline,
- Enter your License Key, and then select Activate License.
- Select the Scan QR CODE link. The Scan QR Code prompt opens. It contains the QR code you must scan.
- Scan the QR Code, using your mobile phone. You'll receive your Computer key via your mobile phone.
- Select Close, to close the Scan QR Code prompt.
- Enter the Computer key and activate your license.

For online activation:
Verify that the LevelDocs add-in is available
Once you have installed the software and activated the license, verify that LevelDocs is available.
- Open a document or presentation in the application for which you have installed the add-in. The LevelDocs tab appears on the application toolbar. This confirms the software is installed.
- Select the LevelDocs tab. The add-in toolbar is displayed. You can now begin to work with LevelDocs.
