What's a VPAT?
A Voluntary Product Accessibility Template, or VPAT, documents a product's conformance with the accessibility standards under Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act. VPAT helps Federal contracting officials and other buyers in making preliminary assessments regarding the availability of commercial electronic products and services with accessible features. Buyers use VPAT documentation to determine how accessible a product is and where any potential deficiencies are, before they purchase a product.

Create a VPAT in AMP
Organization Administrators can easily create and publish a Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT) based off of AMP Reports. This is especially important for organizations who are selling software to the Federal Government. This streamlines the process of creating, editing and publishing a VPAT directly through the AMP interface. Users can now select one or more reports from their project to roll into a VPAT.
Follow these steps to create a VPAT:
- Navigate to the project dashboard that houses the report or reports that you would like to include in a VPAT.
- Check off the report(s) you would like to include in the VPAT.
- Select the Create VPAT bulk action button.
- Choose VPAT name and select Make it Happen in the resulting dialog box. Note that you can't publish your VPAT until you publish the reports that are included in it.
The resulting dialog box allows you to edit the VPAT to include the relevant support level, and remarks and explanations about the standards and laws included in the VPAT.
Edit VPATs
- Navigate to the Project that contains the VPAT.
- Select the VPATs navigation tab.
- Select the VPAT you would like to edit.
Publish a VPAT
To publish your VPAT, follow these steps:
- Navigate to the Project that contains the VPAT.
- Select the VPATs navigation tab.
- Select the VPAT you would like to publish.
- Select the Permissions action icon that is visually represented as a padlock (it is located in the upper-right hand portion of the VPAT)
- Select Show Advanced, and then the Publish checkbox.
- Select Submit.
This will publish your VPAT. If a VPAT is published, the word Published is shown below the VPAT Details box. You are able to change what you would like even after the VPAT is published.
Delete a VPAT
- Navigate to the Project that contains the VPAT.
- Select the VPATs navigation tab.
- Use the Delete VPAT action Icon. Alternatively, select the checkbox next to the VPATs that you want to delete and select the Delete VPATs bulk action icon.
