Who can use this feature?
- Organization administrators.
- Available for the Accelerate and Enterprise packages. Also, for the Essential package with the Integrations add-on.
After a Jira connection has been established, you can make updates like adding or removing workspace access, reauthorizing the connection, and resyncing tasks.
On this page:
- Edit workspace access
- Reauthorize the connection from the Project page
- Reauthorize the connection from the Issue tracking page
- Resync all tasks
Edit workspace access
You can grant or restrict workspace access to the Jira connection. You must have at least one workspace selected to save any changes.
If you create new workspaces after setting up the connection, you'll need to grant them access.
To add or remove workspace access:
Navigate to the organizational level.
Under Manage, select Tools & Integrations, and then select Issue tracking.
- Find the issue tracking connection and select the three-dot action menu.
- Choose Edit.
- In the workspaces dropdown, select or deselect the workspace(s) you want to add or remove.
- If you deselect a workspace with linked projects, you'll disconnect those projects from Jira.
- Select Save.
Reauthorize the connection from the Project page
You can reauthorize from the Project page only if you have an error (an interrupted or unauthorized connection).
To reauthorize an issue tracking connection from the Project page (Issue Tracking roles only):
Navigate to the workspace level.
Under Find and Fix, select Projects and tasks. The Projects tab is displayed.
- Find the project you want to open and select View project. If the project has an error with the issue tracking connection, a notification is displayed.
- Select Edit issue tracking connection. The Edit connection page is displayed.
- Select Review error message, to learn more about the error. Select Close, to close the message.
- Depending on the type of connection, select the appropriate option:
- For JIRA Cloud, select Reauthorize connection.
- For Jira Data Center with OAuth 2.0: Under Status, select Reauthorize with existing credentials. If this is a new connection, select Reauthorize with new credentials (and then follow the on-screen prompts).
- Select Save.
Reauthorize the connection from the Issue tracking page
If you've set up a Jira connection and that connection gets interrupted, you may need to reauthorize the connection.
A member of your team with administrative access to Jira needs to be signed in during the reauthorization.
OAuth 2.0
To reauthorize an issue tracking connection via OAuth 2.0:
Navigate to the organizational level.
Under Manage, select Tools & Integrations, and then select Issue tracking.
- Find the connection you want to reauthorize and select the three-dot action menu.
- Choose Edit from the dropdown menu.
- Under Status, select Reauthorize with existing credentials. If you have a new set of credentials, select Reauthorize with new credentials, enter a new Client ID and Client Secret, and then select Authorize.
- If prompted, select Accept.
- Select Save.
Note: Depending on your configuration in Atlassian the action menu might display a list of Jira sites that you can access. However, after you complete reauthorization, the connection is reauthorized for the same Jira site that was originally connected.
OAuth 1.0
Step 1: Start the reauthorization in the platform.
Navigate to the organizational level.
Under Manage, select Tools & Integrations, and then select Issue tracking.
- Find the connection you want to re-authorize and select the three-dot action menu.
- Choose Edit from the dropdown menu.
- Select Reauthorize connection.
- Select Continue.
Step 2: Reauthorize and verify the connection.
- Select the workspace you want to connect your Jira instance to.
- Enter the server URL of your Jira instance. For example: test.atlassian.net.
- Select Generate URL.
- Open the Authorization URL link and select Allow.
- From the Access Approve page, copy the verification code.
- Paste the verification code in the platform and select Verify.
- Select Complete connection.
Resync all tasks
If you have tasks that have failed to sync, resync the tasks to reestablish the connection.
The option to resync all tasks is only available if the connection status is Authorized or Interrupted.
To resync tasks:
Navigate to the organizational level.
Under Manage, select Tools & Integrations, and then select Issue tracking.
- Find the connection you want to edit and select the three-dot action menu.
- Choose Edit.
- Select Resync all tasks.
- Select Save.
