Request a design evaluation

Before you request a design evaluation, identify what you want us to evaluate, then collect the designs, and submit them to our team for evaluation. For example, you can request evaluation of your brand guidelines, wireframes, user interface designs, and component designs

Step 1: Prepare what you want evaluated.

Collect everything you want evaluated. Note that you can include responsive page designs. 

For example, the following image is a responsive page design in desktop and mobile.

To prepare a design package that you want evaluated:

1. Identify the designs you want evaluated. Your designs can be:
   • Brand guidelines
   • Wireframes
   • User interface designs
   • Component designs
2. Export each design as a PNG. We assume these designs contain elements from your style guide that you want us to review.

Step 2: Submit your files for evaluation.

To submit your design package for evaluation:

1. Create a new support ticket in the support portal.
2. On the Accessibility services tab and under Testing, choose Design evaluation services.
3. Indicate:
   • Your email address.
   • The type of viewport (responsive/mobile).
   • The desired version of WCAG, the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.
   • The desired conformance level (A / AA / AAA).
   • The digital asset you'd like us to test.
   • Any special considerations, such as areas that the evaluator may omit or those the evaluator should pay particular attention to.
   • Summary of your request.
4. Upload these items, in the PNG format:
   • The designs you want evaluated.
   • The digital style guide/digital brand guidelines.
5. Select Submit.

Step 3: Complete the design evaluation.

After you submit the request, the evaluation process includes the following phases:

• Request validation: We will validate your request. If there are any questions or concerns, a member of our Support team will be in touch to resolve them.
• Design evaluation: A design evaluator will evaluate the accessibility of the designs against your chosen WCAG version and conformance level. 
• Request completion: Once the request is validated, you’ll receive an expected completion date, which is no longer than 30 business days.

Step 4: Check your evaluation results.

You can view the design evaluation results in the platform or download them as an Excel spreadsheet. Both options include:

• The findings
• A PNG of each design with highlights identifying the issues we  found

To check your evaluation results in the platform:

1. Log in to the platform.
2. Select the Design evaluations in the navigation menu.
3. Select the design evaluation name.
4. Review your evaluation results.
