The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) are one set of standards for digital properties. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is a law that sets WCAG 2.1 AA as the version of WCAG to adhere to. The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) is another law that requires digital properties conform to the WCAG 2.0 AA version. Beyond WCAG, there are other important accessibility standards. Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act mandates that federal agencies make their electronic and information technology accessible to people with disabilities. In Europe, EN 301 549 and the European Accessibility Act (EAA) set forth requirements for information and communication technology (ICT) products and services, ensuring they meet accessibility needs. Together, these standards help ensure individuals of all abilities can access digital content.
