Learn how to use ARIA attributes effectively with the following microlearning courses:

  • Discovering ARIA 1: Accessibility Traits: Identify the five key accessibility traits that ARIA attributes and roles help convey. Explore each of these traits and learn how they contribute to providing the right information and context to users.
  • Discovering ARIA 2: The Naming and Description Attributes: Examine how ARIA naming and description attributes can help your users identify user-interface elements and provide context into their function.

Overview of Accessible Design in Design Systems, and Style Guide Accessibility 10/29/2024 This session is part 1 of a 4-part series in which we’ll discuss the accessible design and documentation considerations for each level of a design system. This first session will provide an overview of the accessibility requirements at each level, as well as discuss things like tokens in style guides. In each session, participants will be provided a Figma file or PowerPoint deck in which they can practice the lessons learned. And each session builds upon the previous, so be sure to attend as many as you can!
Component Library Accessibility

 This session is part 2 of a 4-part series in which we’ll discuss the accessible design and documentation considerations for each level of a design system. In this second session, learn how to design common components like buttons, links, radio buttons, checkboxes, and interactive icons to be accessible. In each session, participants will be provided a Figma file or PowerPoint deck in which they can practice the lessons learned. And each session builds upon the previous, so be sure to attend as many as you can!
Component Library Accessibility, Continued 12/3/2024 This session is part 3 of a 4-part series in which we’ll discuss the accessible design and documentation considerations for each level of a design system. In this third session, learn how to design somewhat-complex components like text inputs, dropdowns, action groups, and search bars to be accessible. In each session, participants will be provided a Figma file or PowerPoint deck in which they can practice the lessons learned. And each session builds upon the previous, so be sure to attend as many as you can!
Pattern Library and Page Template Accessibility 12/17/2024 This session is part 4 of a 4-part series in which we’ll discuss the accessible design and documentation considerations for each level of a design system. In this fourth session, learn how to design complex patterns like filters, modals, and toolbars to be accessible. In addition, learn the accessibility considerations for page templates. In each session, participants will be provided a Figma file or PowerPoint deck in which they can practice the lessons learned. And each session builds upon the previous, so be sure to attend as many as you can!

  • Establishing an Accessibility Testing Strategy with Automated Flows: Learn how to integrate automated flows into your testing strategy and understand your results.

  • Hosting Accessible Meetings: Whether it’s virtual or in-person, learn how to incorporate accessibility from the planning stage to execution.
  • Building Accessible Presentations: Learn how to make accessible presentation files and use the Accessibility Checker tool in Microsoft Office. A version of the course with Google Slides is available upon request.
